About Me

I’m Qurb E Muhammad Syed, a software engineering student who’s energized by building systems that are reliable, understandable, and built with care.

Current focus

Backend engineering, systems fundamentals, and cleaner architecture.

Studying

4th-year Software Engineering at Carleton University.

Core stack

Java, C++, Python, SQL, Astro, and Tailwind CSS.

Who I am

I naturally gravitate toward back-end and systems work because I enjoy solving foundational problems: how data moves through a system, how code stays maintainable as it grows, and how software can be both performant and dependable.

I care deeply about fundamentals and design clarity. I’m the kind of person who likes to understand why something works, not just make it work once.

What I’m passionate about

  • • Building complete projects end-to-end and polishing details.
  • • Writing modular code that future-me and teammates can extend.
  • • Learning system design, data modeling, and performance-minded habits.
  • • Turning complexity into clean architecture and good developer UX.

Outside of engineering

I spend time refining my workflow, reflecting on how I learn, and finding better ways to create consistent progress. Discipline, curiosity, and long-term growth are values I try to bring into every project I work on.

Right now, I’m looking to build more real-world systems

If you’re a recruiter, teammate, or fellow builder, I’d love to connect and talk about software, projects, and opportunities where thoughtful engineering matters.
